Notting Hill & Ealing High School : Inspired by Hyde Park

Notting Hill and Ealing High School is an independent day school for girls aged 4 - 18 located in West Ealing, London. They prepare girls to take advantage of all the opportunities which life offers them, fostering a sense of pleasure, and enjoyment in everything they do, while learning to understand and contribute to the wider community. What better way to do this than with a visit to a natural habitat in the heart of London: Hyde Park.

Inspiration

15 year 7 pupils joined the Royal Parks Education Officer, Nick Lane, on an incredibly hot and sunny afternoon in Hyde Park where he told them about all the interesting seeds they could see including roses, almonds, lime, monkey puzzle and alliums. The group were then encouraged by the artist, Gayna Pelham, to take a different perspective of the Park, lying underneath the trees and looking up at the sky through the branches, giving a feeling of endless space which really sparked some artistic imagination. At school, the pupils revisited their thoughts, experimenting with masking fluid, ink and card to create various interesting effects.
