Mario Testino
Mario was born in Lima, Peru, into a family of Irish, Spanish and Italian origins. He began his formal training in photography when he moved to London in 1976 to become one of fashion’s most sought after photographers. He has contributed to the images of leading fashion houses as well as photographing celebrities around the world. Special commissions have included The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Prince Harry and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan. There have been a number of solo Testino exhibitions around the world, the latest being Diana, Princess of Wales by Mario Testino at Kensington Palace. His exhibition “Portraits” opened at the National Portrait Gallery in 2002 and continues its world tour. Future projects include the book “How to be a fashion photographer”, which will be the latest of many publications such as “Portraits”, “Alive” and “Any Objections?” Mario is a doctor emeritus of the University of the Arts, London and was awarded the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award in March 2005.
