St Vincent’s is a Catholic Primary School located in Marylebone, Central London. The school offers a wide-ranging extra-curricular programme for its pupils, which included this great opportunity to visit the diverse offerings of Regent’s Park.
30+ year 2 pupils visited the new allotment and Queen Mary’s Rose Garden in Regent’s Park for their inspiration, focusing particularly on seeds, their textures, colours and shapes. The pupils used a variety of media including oil pastels to emphasise the shapes and softness of roses in Queen Mary’s Garden and pencil to emphasise the textures of different seeds and vegetables and fruits they found in the allotment. The day was rounded off by planting their own sunflower seeds in pots to take back to school. The children revisited their thoughts at school using various other media including paints and hessian printing which produced some fascinating deckchair designs.
Did you know? Regent's Park was originally part of the vast Forest of Middlesex.
